Pustotnik farmers cheese, which is modelled after Gouda cheese, has a distinctly straw-yellow rind and is slightly convex on the sides. Due to short ripening time, the texture of Pustotnik farmers cheese is soft, supple and smooth; a fresh, subtle and milky aroma complements a clean and mild taste.

On a cheeseboard, the mild and gentle taste of the cheese goes well with fresh sweet fruits. To achieve a more prominent aroma it can be paired with olive oil or truffles.
